Residents of Port St. Lucie are gearing up for their annual spring cleaning as the City reminds them of the upcoming bulk waste collection dates. According to the City's announcement, residents can dispose of bulk waste curbside once a month as part of their regular service.
For those unsure of their specific collection day, the City provides multiple convenient options for obtaining the schedule. Residents can call the Office of Solid Waste at 1-772-871-1775 or visit City Hall to have their bulk waste pickup day marked on a magnet for easy reference. Additionally, an interactive solid waste map is available online to help residents synchronize their pickup days with their calendars seamlessly.
Addressing common inquiries about bulk waste, the City clarifies that items such as furniture, mattresses, large toys, exercise equipment, and appliances fall under bulk waste, with a limit of two cubic yards per month. Residents are advised to place these items curbside by 7 a.m. on their pickup day but not before 6 p.m. the night before collection.
In cases where residents cannot wait for their designated bulk waste day, a Convenient Drop-off Center is available at 1501 SW Cameo Blvd. for yard and bulk waste disposal. The center operates Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Furthermore, the City provides guidance on disposing of household hazardous waste, emphasizing that such waste cannot be collected with regular garbage or at the Convenient Drop-off Center. Residents are encouraged to utilize the St. Lucie County Solid Waste Baling and Recycling Facility in Fort Pierce for approved hazardous waste items. Additionally, the City hosts a biannual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day and offers free drop-off sites for rechargeable batteries at City buildings.
As the community prepares for the seasonal purge of bulk waste during their spring cleaning routines, the City of Port St. Lucie ensures that residents have access to the necessary resources and information for a smooth and efficient cleanup process.
